Here we go again.. xmas pressies for a one year old boy?

Hiya Guys,

Just started doing my Christmas shopping (aren't I organised) and I don't really want to get him any more electronic toys as he doesn't play with the ones he has (barely)

I have a two year old boy, so we already have enough clothes and I am sure people will buy him new ones for Christmas to...he already has a little play table, a walker, trolley and a wooden trolley (he loves these as he is just in between walking)

Other then a few nice books I am unsure if their is anything else to get him? As before because we already have the two year old we have everything you'd expect cars...trains..tea sets..building bricks..and this is not counting all the electronic toys.

Not really looking to spend more then £50, but preferably around £25 mark.

Lots of things to unwrap! So, some large crayons suitable for a toddler, a pad to scribble in, maybe a football, etc etc. He'll have more fun with the unwrapping than anything, and nothing need cost more than a few pounds!

I wouldn't bother getting such young children loads of fancy things, because to be honest, they are more interested in empty boxes and unwrapping things. I would get some little bits that don't cost a lot, then put some money into a savings account for when he is older.

It sounds like we spoil them but mostly everything we have is gifts! I think I may just get him a few books and as you say top up his savings unless something better is suggested. Would love something he would play with but he is just to little, I doubt even lots to upwrap would interest him :(.

How about some educational music to listen to in the car? Or educational videos to watch?

I must admit, I went mad when my kids were babies, stupid now I look back, because I was convinced they "needed" it at the time, now I wish I just had filled some pots up with rice or pasta for them to shake and given them loads of boxes or bubble wrap! Make the most of it at this age and just buy the minimum, because they cost a lot more the older they get

Thanks Dippy very tempted as OH would love the idea, but my front room is covered at every wall as it is..def maybe though! I think maybe time to start clearing out.

Pawsie - Brilliant, never thought of that I will be getting him a nursery rhyme CD to sing along with him. I've just bid on some books as well £6 for 6 that all have CD's with them and look really good cond :-) hate auctions but I do hope I win them...even if just to have as extra books.

Yup they do love their pasta shakers...haha :)

How about booking a course of mum and baby swimming lessons. Or signing up for some music classes with Jo Jingles or similar.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
  • I always buy my nephew and niece books as they are educational - and as another poster said - they tend to enjoy the unwrapping more than the gift itself!
