JSA Claim Help

Hi All,

Let me explain!

I was on JSA and as part of this was sent to an Agency for 2 years work programme. Just before my work programme ended I set up an own business. Sadly the business has failed. The tax credits claim has been turned down. It has been 4 months since I ended JSA claim.

My question is this:

1) Should I apply for JSA straight away and do a rapid reclaim
OR
2) Wait until 6 months are up and do a new claim?

My reason for asking this is if I go back Straight away will I be put back on the work programme. I signed off on the last day of work programme and if I hadn't done this I would have had to go back to Job centre from then on only. The work Programme or business advisor were not very useful anyway.

If I wait until 6 months and start a new claim then I start at the beginning again. The job centre and then the dreaded work programme again if I am still unlucky in finding work. And yes I understand I will have to survive 2 more months on my own.

Which option is better?

Personally I would rather be in work but simply can't find a job. For all the economy doing so great I don't see it!

  • Can someone please answer or provide a link to handbook with the rules.

If JSA claimed straight away will it be a separate new claim or if JSA is claimed after 6 months will it be a new separate claim?
