When does the Three year mobility period begin?

Hi,

Does the three year mobility entitlement begin when you get the letter saying you are entitled to Higher Rate, or does it start when you collect your car?

Are you referring to the date that you can change your car - ie after the three year period?

Your mobility allowance award isn't taken from you for the car until the car is delivered to you. So, I am guessing that the three years begin on the day it is delivered.

If you need to change the car before that date for a particular reason there may be an allowance made for this. Ring them and ask.

Thanks for reply. My situation is i got a letter in September 2011 saying i was getting Higher rate DLA from that month, i didnt go and get a car until January 2012 4 months after letter.

My Higher rate DLA has just been renewed from September 2014 to September 2016.

Can i go and get a new car now or do i have to wait until January 2015 when it will be three years since i actually collected my current car?

The 3 years starts from when you got the car - it's a 3 year lease - take a look at the paperwork you would have been given when you first got the car.
