Have never been put in 1st class, seat has always been booked and shows reserved0

my tickets are alwats pre booked and a seat reserved.
but when it is very busy ( for example christmas week) they put me in first class deliberately ( not all the time).
i think maybe the feel it is safer when the train is really crowded.
