Daligas terms - not responsible for maintaining meter?
Options
Looking at the latest Daligas terms, I see they are placing full obligation and liability on the customer for maintaining the gas meter
Is that right?
I thought in most cases, the supplier was fully responsible for the maintenance of the gas meter and it's safe operation (obviously not if deliberately damaged, etc) - I thought that is why they are required under licence to inspect the gas meter at least once every 2 years.
I've looked at other suppliers terms and don't see anything like this elsewhere.
Am I wrong?
Is this the start of things to come?
Or are Daligas just taking the mickey and trying to avoid their responsibilities as a gas supplier?

You will be responsible for the maintenance of the gas meter and equipment at your expenses. daligas has no responsibility for the operation or safety of the gas meter and gas equipment in your premises.

The metering is your local MOPs responsibility not your suppliers. Its why your meter reader isn't from Daligas.0

Why then is the supplier saying it is the customer's responsibility? Whoever is responsible for maintaining the meter it is not, as Daligas appear to be saying, the customer.
If there is a (non emergency) problem with the meter who is the customer meant to deal with?0 -

I don't know who or what the MOP is, but whenever I have had any issue with my meter (gas or electric) it has always been my supplier that I contacted and advised.
It was always the supplier that then arranged for someone to call who may or may not have been from the supplier themselves, but if not said they were working on behalf of the supplier. e.g. I think it was Siemens that came last time, who were working on behalf of British Gas (my supplier at the time)
My current supplier, Zog, says in their terms I should let them know immediately about any damage to the meter.

(They also give a separate number for emergencies)
It also refers to their agent reading/inspecting the meter at least once every 2 years.
Edit:
Presumably the MOP is the Meter Operator
http://www.meteroperators.org.uk/
How do I know who mine is? I never appointed them.
According to various FAQs on that site such as how do I get the meter moved, can I change a PPM for a credit meter or I think my meter is innacurate, the common answer is to first speak with your energy supplier.0 -

This is incorrect. It is the supplier's responsibility and regardless of whether or not they outsource their MOP or MAM obligations this responsibility is passed on to their chosen partner. Just to confirm, MOP is for electricity meters and MAM for gas.
The reason the meter reader is not a Daligas employee is likely linked to their lack of in house resource and cost effectiveness of using an outsourced provider.0 -

Hi wavelets,
Your supplier appoints the MOP of their choice and it's all documented in industry dataflows and on an industry database called ecoes. If you move into a new property for example and aren't informed who the existing supplier of the property is, then a quick search on ecoes will be able to confirm this. All of which is only accessible to workers within the industry. Hope this helps.0
