DFS 5 Year Leather Care Insurance

I could not believe my ears when I was in a DFS store in Poole last week.
I purchased a leather suite from DFS about 5 years ago and took out the insurance after being promised by the salesman that it covered EVERYTHING. If I have pets and children this cover apparently is essential because it covers everything from little snags to rips, tears, spillages, you name it, it's covered. However, after 2 or 3 years I had to call them out for a couple of snags and guess what ... because the furniture is outside of the manufacturer's warranty only spillages were covered. When I explained what the salesman had said I was politely told that no one would ever have sold me a policy like this as it doesn't exist.
Last week I was in the DFS store in Poole. I overheard a salesman doing a very good sales pitch on the five year leather cover. It sounds wonderful, it covers absolutely EVERYTHING, especially if you have pets and children. Heard that before, infact it was exactly as I was told. Funny! I challenged the salesman as he was trying to snare another victim and he told me that the policy had been improved, however after further investigation I see that the policy does not cover any of the garbage that was being told to the unsuspecting customers.
The most amazing thing was, that as I walked around the rest of the store I heard another two salesmen selling the same policy to other customers. It's a scam.
I challenged DFS about the mis-selling of their leather care policy and after a short exchange of correspondence I got my money back, a full refund. I would urge everyone with one of these useless policies to check what they were told when they took out the policy, and if it was anything more than spillages then write to DFS and ask for a full refund.

Thanks for the heads-up.
But I have to say that I would never buy anything from there.

Is it actually a "leather care insurance" or a "leather care service plan"?
Obviously miss selling is miss selling but insurance is a much more heavily regulated industry where as those that spend a lot of time and effort to ensure they are selling service plans and not insurance have much lighter regulation.
Ultimately if you feel that strongly then put a complaint into Trading Standards about their consistent miss selling0 -
dfs are a rip off im still in my 2 year warranty and have a faulty sofa but all they want to do is replace one bit of leather no way i also have the 5 year leather care plan and says it covers everything now after reading this im not so sure0
