If you are going to Bangkok -- which we absolutely loved let me know as I can give you quite a few tips0

We went 2 years ago and I booked everything independently. Just book a flight to Bangkok and have a couple of days there. We then flew to Surat Thani and had 3nights in the rainforest. Used bus service to Krabi, another few days there and then got a boat to Koh Lanta. Had 5 days there and then back to Bangkok to stock up on cheap goods. Had a great time and everything is so easy to organise.0

I loved bangkok as well ,so clean and so safe to walk around , and shopping is wonderful. If you stay in bangkok for a few days you will meet other travelers, most people go to the islands.I went to Puckett ,very nice but so expensive.0

That's not really accurate. You aren't likely to meet other travellers at all, unless you stay in Banglumphu.
I was going to stay out of this thread.

Where, per chance, did you meet them in Bangkok? Khaosan Road area in Banglumphu? Bus station? Train station?
Why have you created a link to my profile?

In Suzie Wongs on Soi Cowboy, lol0 -
So, there we have it.... Suzie Wongs on Soi Cowboy is the place to go to meet other travellers.

Hmmmm.....Where is the Khaosan Road? Yes, it is in Banglumphu.
Seriously, as I wrote before, if it is part of one's plans is to meet other travellers in Bangkok, head for Banglumphu.
You'll be hard pushed to find many anywhere else.0
