Moving home existing supplier?

Hi

I am finally moving into my property my last account was with Eon which was cancelled more than two months ago as the old house was sold and the new house not yet bought, the supplier at the new premises is British Gas. Can I purchase a new product from Eon today prior to the move in a few days time - I will not know the final readings or can I only purchase on the day when I do. Also can I change straight away to a different supplier than the one the present householder uses.

You can commence a switch as soon as you register with BG and submit opening reads, which means the day you move in-not before.
A switch will then take 4-5 weeks.
Make sure you pick a BG tariff without an ETC if you intend to switch.

Oh heck didnt know I had to go with exsisting supplier then sort it later.
