credit score help!

I'm looking to apply for a mortgage within the next 6 months but I checked my credit score on equifax and its saying my score is only in the "Fair" category. Im up to date with all of my bill payments and have been for the past 2 years (granted, before this I wasnt so good) but I only have a Very account for credit. Is it worth getting one of these "bad credit" credit cards to try and get the score back up again (when I checked it on experian a year ago it was "excellent") ? Or should I not apply for any more credit so close to applying for a mortgage?

If you're still 6 months away from applying for a mortgage, it would be worth getting a card and use it responsibly.
Ignore the scores, though, as they're meaningless. Just manage your credit accounts well.0
