Basic bank account with a creditor??

I have 3 debts I owe to Barclays (an old closed current account overdraft and 2 loans around 4k each). I may or may not be going bankrupt in the next few months and would like to open a basic bank account with Barclays.

So..

1. Can I open a basic bank account with them even though they are a credtor?

2. Will they try and take money from this account if yes to try and pay off my debts with them?

3. If I open it pre bankruptcy, will they close it when bankruptcy is granted or will they let me keep it open?

4. If I don't open it before BR, will they let me open one after it has been granted but not yet discharged?

Barclays and coop are the only br friendly banks,
Barclays.....if you have debts with them do not open a basic account with them until after you have declared bankruptcy , you will not be able to use their online banking until after discharge, open this account in branch.
The coop will allow you online banking with a basic account...this must be opened before br ..and do not mention you may be, just say you need a basic account to help with budgeting
If you do declare br then you need to tell the or this is your everyday account and it will not be frozen.

I currently have a co op cashminder account but want to use Barclays as I've had issues with co op.

That's disappointing that I cant use online banking as its much easier to manage money that way. Is this something youve found out yourself? I only ask as on the Barclays website their cash card account states you still have access to online banking?

Seems a silly unnecessary thing for them to do.

Hi again loads of threads on the B.R board, Barclays will not give online banking to undischarged bankrupts, when discharged if you take your prove in they will allow it, we know its silly but those are their rules.
I have been very happy with the coop, shame you have had some problems
