You say that but last week, on my private account, I had some furniture listed and it was not appearing in the search on the app was was appearing if I used the laptop. My account is above standard, so something is going on and not all items are being shown in the search.

I don't doubt that ebay is odd, but I do doubt ebay are able to code the site to do this intentionally.

I'm not entirely certain but I think the mobile app and the website use different search engines. Run them side by side and the results can be quite different. One difference is that on the mobile app I can search for items with just best offer, I don't think I can on the website.

On items that are slow it has been working ending and relisting items. If they have some sales I 'relist', if they haven't had any sales I use 'sell similar'.
This also stimulates sales if there are any watchers on an item as they get an email that "an item you were watching has been relisted".

I also down my items by 1p lol

I raised some of the last lot, a couple of items hadn't sold in over a month, I sold a couple within an hour of relisting at a higher price.

Well, did as Soo suggested and I have sold more in the last 3 hours then I have in the last 72 hours. Utter madness!! But thanks for the suggestion Soo.

Hmmm. Coding. Thinking about it, writing a code into the program to hide sellers who are not on 0% defects/new INR's should be no problem for the likes of eBay. My daughter codes and I have seen her write codes into programs to change how things work. I - personally - have no idea!! She is 11 and quite advanced in what she does so someone with many other years experience would have no trouble I suppose.

Is it right that just to keep a business running we have to constantly play with prices and active listings just to maintain some sort of decent visibility? Everyone pays the same money after all.

When I ran retail outlets I was forever moving around bad sellers, whether it's the same I don't know.

  • If you are selling items where sellers are clambering over themselves penny pinching, then buyers are probably *sorting by price* and the best match view isn't going to have much impact.
