New boiler & TRV's flat is colder than before

Hello

Need some advice please

Had a Vokera boiler not the best but warmed up flat very well, where I would be too hot and need to turn boiler off.

I have recently replaced with Worcester Bosch (powerflush, filter and all done) - Condensing boiler 28i, and have TRV's in 2 bedrooms and living room

I also have a battery thermostat

Now since I have had installed which coincided with weather getting colder the flat is not as hot as before. It is barely warm and I am concerned as its only October. Where I would be very hot before (I like heat) I am barely warm - Its taken about 3 hours.

Living room radiator is hot at top but cooler at bottom - TRV on 5
Hall - No TRV radiator hot but then gets cooler
Bedroom 1 - Radiator Medium temp, has a TRV
Bathroom - Radiator Hot - No TRV
Bedroom 2 - Radiator medium has a TRV, but never heated well before.

Currently boiler is on setting 5 out of 6
Thermostat is in hall and set on 30 degrees, but only makes it to 22 degrees.

I spoke to gas fitter who installed before re radiator - he said they were not balanced, he did something which made living room very warm, but then turned the left valve back down

I have contacted him again to ask for advice, but would like opinions, as he advised I set my room thermostat to 21 degrees, and boiler to setting 3-4 for me that is too cold - I tried it for a few days, not sure I will be listened too.

I have read up on balancing radiators and have tried, it works for a while but then seems to revert back

Just concerned spending all the £ and place is colder than before.. and its only October

Thanks in advance

Why change the boiler when it was a heat control issue?

    Is the boiler on?

is the stat calling for heat.

    is the pump working

Is it the same stat, which one? wired or wireless

If it was getting too hot before then perhaps the stat is faulty.

    Is the hot water OK?

Also sounds like your installer is fobbing you off they have failed to leave you with a working system get them back.

    Hello
The boiler was continually leaking from overflow - it was over 10 years old and (with me anyway) so probably at least 15 years, so I decided to change, as was only getting heat and water intermittently recently after continual refilling.

    The boiler has been on

I didn't have a stat with the previous boiler, so this is all new for me

The hot water is absolutely fine and very hot so have turned down the boiler on that side of things.

I have since removed TRV in living room and radiator is hotter, so I think its a problem with TRV. I will speak to installer - thanks

Hi, you say the thermostat is in the hall, is it positioned above the hall radiator?

With trv's make sure there all clear for free air around them, no curtains hanging over, furniture too close etc. They sense air temperature so they shouldn't be covered/blocked in a way that makes the air around them warmer than the actual room.

You can try shutting one valve on all radiators except for one and wait for it to get hot before opening another and closing that one until they've all been hot, then you can open them all up again.
  • I'd move the thermostat into the Living room and fully open the TRV on the radiator(s) in that room.

Then try to balance the setup.

No away from radiator in hallway. I tried balancing before which worked initially but seemed to revert back to normal

Thanks I tried living room. TRV's in all rooms fully open.
Situation is better now I have removed them. Back to what I know
