Named driver on my policy had an accident in own car...

A named driver on my insurance policy has had an accident in her own car under her own insurance which she is the primary driver. No claims therefore will be made on my policy as it was not my car she was driving and she will be claiming on her own policy. However, now a claim has been made and will be registered on the database, will I have to tell my insurer that there is now an accident on her name? Which will therefore increase the cost of my own premium?

Any answers to this would be greatly appreciated.

  • YES.
It might not add anything to the cost.
Out of interest, I obtained quotes on my wife's car with me as a named driver, and adding 3 points and an accident did not make much difference.

You will have to tell your insurer.

But if it affects the premium this won't happen till renewal, when you can shop around for the best deal.

You can do dummy quotes online now to get an idea of what difference it makes to the premium.

check your policy some dont require until renewl
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
