How are you evening the spoke tension, by tone or with a tensiometer?0

By hand. I'm gripping them slowly trying to feel the resistance in my hand.
back to YouTube then.
my last search saw one guy using a block of wood to smack the wheel and another using two bits of wood for leverage and his body weight.

For the amateur learning to build wheels requires three things, time, patience and an understanding of what happens when you tighten a spoke
The first wheel I ever built (if it can be called that) was on my Marin, used to break spokes frequently, shop I bought it from replaced them foc. Decided to replace all the spokes with Swiss DT spokes, took out an individual spoke and replaced it, keeping the tension the same. Did this for the complete wheel, never broke another spoke, and it stayed true until the rim was worn out
Built many wheels since and never had a problem
Many purists say you shouldn't reuse spokes, I've never had a problem0
