Santander credit card direct debit addtl payments

This might be a silly question... on my Santander credit card I've been making fixed amount payments of £50 by direct debit until now. However, this month I made an extra payment of £200 by debit card.

The direct debit of £50 would normally leave my bank account on the 15th next week. Will this extra payment of £200 reduce that amount to nil, or the DD will still be processed as normally and another £50 will leave my bank account?

Thanks?

What does it say on your statement? Should be on there.

Thanks, but it only says that they may affect the amount... I guess I'll know the answer soon.

So that sounds as if the DD will be reduced by any additional payments - but with the caveat that if the payment is made close to the DD date, the DD will remain unchanged.
  • On a Santander CC, the DD will be reduced (or cancelled) if a payment is booked five or more working days before the DD is due.

If you've made the payment today, you might be borderline as I don't know if the day the DD is due, will count as one of the five days or not.

It might go either way. The next time leave a longer gap if you definitely want the DD to be cancelled or leave a shorter gap if you want it to be taken.
