  • The bank current account that consistently come top (by a big margin) of the customer satisfaction surveys is First Direct.

    No gimmicks, no interest - just good service ! (give you £100 to join - but will not take all-comers)

    I have opened 8 other current accounts for the good interest rates, but I still use FD as my "main" account and would not dream of leaving them.
    It is also interesting to note the differences between the various websites for all the accounts.

    This could be due to 2 accounts in your name and 1 in your OH's name being opened in such quick succession of each other. Take the ID to the branch as suggested so that it can be sorted sooner rather than later and you will know how many accounts they have set up/allowed. Nothing worse than not knowing :mad:

    Hope it all works out for you :A

    Thanks. They have given me sort codes and account numbers for all 3 accounts but it was just when I tried to convert my second account to a joint account but I will see if I can pop in on Saturday with the ID.

    Unfortunately, I don't fancy my chances at getting accepted by First Direct. HSBC wouldn't even give my ltd company a current account so decided to not try them.

    it's not enough to just join - you need to switch to get the £100.

    Well, unfortunately, when Christmas and Birthdays come up, we still get cheques off relatives. Also, if either of us sell anything on Gumtree or Preloved and the buyer collects, we end up with cash in the house that needs paying into the bank. Unfortunately, I'm not lucky enough to work close enough to a barclays branch to 'nip in' during my 30 minute lunch break, so the only chance I have to go to the bank is on a Saturday.

    <sigh>
    does this help?
