Just a thought... Are you sure Mum wouldn't be better with a tablet as a replacement? Imho a decent Android tablet is generally very low on 'User' maintenance and less temperamental than a laptop. Once set up, with the requires apps and accounts, including a scheduled antivirus and cleanup scan there's not much else needed to keep them chugging along except remembering to plug 'em in to charge
Once it's gone, it's gone - so remember...
