Missed payment

I've got a missed payment on my credit file from shop direct Kay's.com it is a £3 payment dated June 2014. It was only a late payment as was unaware it was due.

Experian says it can be removed if instructed to do so by Kay's but have contacted them and they said no..

It is simply they won't do it or can't....??

Your entry at the Credit Reference Agencies is supposed to be a true reflection of your history. So, if the entry was correct (and not a mistake), it's not likely to get removed.

A single entry about a late payment (particular if it happened a while back) is not likely to have much impact.

Ok as I'm just not sure how strongly I should pursue the matter. I have been a Kay's customer for a number of years, there's a 10k credit limit I've built up from £200 initial credit, spent thousands of pounds with them and missed a £3 payment by about a week.

I would have thought they could of sent a request to experian to have this removed given the nature of the incident...

That's the nature of the CRA "industry". It's 100% one sided and does you no favours. Yes, it was perhaps an oversight on your part, but an absolutely trivial one. However, it's now there for all to see, for six years, and it may be held against you.

Shop Direct are, by all accounts, a grubby organisation, but I'd politely request them to remove it, given the circumstances of your relationship with them. If they refuse to do so, terminate your agreement with them, tell them in no uncertain terms why you're doing so, and then bad mouth them and brief against them at every opportunity; it's the only thing these low-lifes might understand (and they probably don't understand anyway).

Well, just emailed them to close account, no reason why...the same person who handled the previous queries got back to me and just closed the account...

Not a big deal as I needed Kay's to pay off things when my income was low but it's not anymore...but the wife did like a few of their homeware items.

Disgusted by this really, you wouldn't have got this treatment years ago, company's would have bent over backwards to keep loyal customers who bring in 1-2k a year for them..

Well all I can do is get a note put on my credit file explaining the missed payment and hope it doesn't go against my mortgage application...
