Ouch! Potentially new scam

Stung! Well, its a new one for me anyway.

Received an email to say I have received a parcel for a person no longer living at this address, please send me money for postage as I do not want to pay return postage for it.

I asked for the address details and told the person to mark it return to sender, pop it in the postbox and I would deal with it when it got back here.

Contacted buyer, she told me it WAS her address, I forwarded all information to her in the email and asked her to get back to me if she knew said person.

Not heard anything for a 9 days. Not received a parcel back here.

Today comes the email 'I want a refund as I still do not have it and I do not like how this has worked out'.

Suck it up, I will have to refund as INR but I could have also sent that other person money. I have asked her to clarify who the other person was that emailed me from the same address as that other person could also be intercepting person letters, credit cards, etc.... and I want to report it. So, this is a new one on me but might make them think twice if they do this often and know it is being reported.

Another one - my friend also sent something recorded, the person said they did not get it, put in a claim and got their money back. However, it was sent by recorded and there was a signature. Buyer claimed it was not theirs but the postman's signature. RM did not consider it an issue when she complained either. So that could be a nice little scam between posties and their friends also.

There are some really dodgy B******s out there.
    :(
And as for Royal Mail, they really aren't any help.
A few of my 1st class packages are turning up 4-5 days late as well!
Not sure what's going on there.

  • How did they get their money back if there was a signature showing proof of delivery?

marking_bad. Indeed, my friend refused to send the money, the buyer escalated and won. Who the heck knows. I have told my friend to fight it. The post office sent the postman round to the buyer to ask if there was any post missing and the buyer said no. I saw the email that she got back from RM.

SS09 - we too have had the exact same issue - business and personal. I got a text today as my daughters payment and entry form for a sports competition she is taking part in on Saturday only just arrived with them, weeks late, she now cannot enter and I got a text to say it is full. To say I am fuming is an understatement!!!!

I've had an occasion when buyer claimed non receipt when there was a signature and Ebay found in my favour. I later sorted it as it was the courier's fault.

My postman used to often sign recorded packets and pointlessly leave them with neighbours too, a few times I never knew where they were. I kept telling him not to and complained , we moved, as far as I know he still does it.
