Last night I downloaded software for my new Canon camera, I created a new restore point before I started, all went well, this morning I noticed that a new Quicktime symbol had appeared on the bottom right so I went into startup to stop it, I think I pressed the wrong button by mistake and had a bit of trouble on restart nothing would startup, so I thought I would use system restore but it is stuck on todays date can't move it back or the months, last nights restore point is not on or any others for restore points for July.
I have managed to get the startup sorted out, but still can't get back to a previous point, anyone know whats happened?

Windows will remove old restore points to save space. That's what might have happened here. You can actually change the amount of disk space Windows uses."Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for."

Yes, it deletes the older ones to save space, but it's very unusual for Windows to delete all restore points for no good reason (well, I suppose stranger things happen at times).
Have you run out of disk space, run the Disk Cleanup utility or done anything in this list recently: System Restore "restore points" are missing or deleted. G0 -
It is a couple of days since I used the computer, I can now restore it back to Saturday but not any earlier, when I was having the problems I did use the disk cleanup utility.
thanks for the help.no debts0
