Common sense suggests give them time off for interviews as long as they don't expect to get paid for the time off.0

15 years and 8 years in a supervisory role ...and have worked for five companies prior to that....so not so limited0 -
Just for the record, we're not talking shift work here, and I would 100% expect employees to turn up for their last day unless they had pre-agreed garden leave etc.
If they didn't, it would be reflected in their reference.
As I said, I am trying to be reasonable, but don't want to be taken for a ride. Oh well, suppose it's not for much longer.0 -

How much time should they be allowed of then for interviews? All of the notice?
Most people??? That's a generalisation if there ever was one...have you conducted surveys or under the illusion your work place is a reflection of the uk working environment
Btw, colleagues should be allowed to go to interviews and move on with their lives0 -

Colleagues should be allowed to fulfill the contract they signed when starting employment. That's it, quite simple.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -

9/10 of employees from my experience of working 15 years in England....never said it reflects the uk or is a general rule
Employees can work their contract and are not being restricted to work...your comment makes no sense which suggests some other issues0 -

There seems to be this whole parallel world of work inhabited by some on here, where workers only turn up grudgingly, and then just itch for any opportunity to "get one over" on the boss. It's so far removed from anything that I've seen that I'd really never have known it existed if not for this place.0
