My husband and I have recently taken up a military posting in Cyprus. Whilst we are away we have been removed from the Electoral Register at our property and registered as Service Voters in order that we can still take part in elections.
Will this have a detrimental affect to our credit ratings? Our registered address with all providers is still our property in the UK with mail being re-directed here.
We are hoping to save enough money in our 3 years here for a deposit to buy a bigger house upon our return so want to make sure our reports are squeaky clean.

I hope the representatives of the credit reference agencies will comment on how the break in credit history will affect those who serve overseas.
My guess is that returning service personnel, Ex-pat or EU citizen turning up in the UK will be in the same boat .
Perhaps keep your existing banks accounts open, moving small payments through them to maintain existing financial relationships will be enough to trigger the computer based systems to show that you are still worthy of trust with other peoples money.

Thanks for your response, we are trying to keep everything as normalised as possible. We still have our British bank accounts with funds regularly going through (thankfully because so far our Cypriot bank account has not been reliable!)
We do still have credit commitments in the UK such as our mortgage/phone bills etc. Hopefully when the time comes, our circumstances will be taken into consideration.0
