Alien Isolation

Has anyone played Alien Isolation yet? Sounds like it's another disappointing Aliens game :(

Anyone seen any offers for it yet?

I've been reading it's pretty good? Why dissapointing?
  • I got my copy today and quickly played it for 90 mins before leaving for work, didn't try the main campaign but I did try Crew Expendable which is a Pre-order piece of DLC which came with it and OMG it is really good.

If you remember and liked the original Alien film then you will love Crew Expendable because it puts you in the Nostromo at the point in the film where the crew have just found out they have a huge bloodthirsty alien running around the ship.

You get to choose to play as one of three crewmembers (I chose Dallas) and first you get the chance to walk around the ship visiting all the familiar locations from the film and then you have to go into the service level and ducts in an attempt to trap the intruder.

The game is bloody hard (I was playing it on the hardest setting) and the alien seems to be all over the place and I must have died a good 15 times before I left to go to work, I'll try the campaign tomorrow but from what little I've seen so far I think this game is going to be amazing, it's certainly atmospheric and scary.

Disappointing? Far from it - while no game will be liked by everyone (and bearing in mind that no game is perfect) it seems to me that most people love it. And that's based on reading player feedback on assorted forums.
  • My partner LOVES the game. He has the Nostromo edition.

He preordered it on Amazon for them to claim that it would be sent on the release date, yesterday. Nope. So he had to cancel the order and he went out and brought it. He waited until dark to play it.

It is very nerve-racking and I am even telling him where to go or if I can see the Xenomorph. He has been effing and jeffing loads! To the point I had to leave the room before making a phone call! LOL Apparently, there is a piece of apparatus that you link up to the console and the alien will detect you if it senses that there are any sounds in your room! The atmospheric sounds in the game add to the tension and the Xenomorphs are not the only things to be afraid of...............

Too scary a game for me sadly, but loving some of the reactions from people streaming it on Twitch and Youtube.

    Loved the movies

I've only played for about an hour and it's great. Playing on the xbox one and it has got head motion and noise sensing with the Kinect.

Best price is £27ish from the Indian xbox one marketplace

Same for me too I think, I couldn't hack outlast and this looks like it'll have a similar vibe to it (no weapons, feeling helpless etc etc).

Nice to finally see a decent Alien game though.
  • I've bought this and absolutely love it. Best time to play is at night, in the dark with headphones. Best £25 I've spent in a long time.

Fantastic game, especially in a quiet dark room (with atmospheric lighting), with surround sound. You will need several changes of underwear! It can be punishing, and some of the save points can be a bit far between, but for fans of stealth games and the original film, its a must! Im about 5 hours through it at the moment, and can't wait for night time to progress some more!
