BOS Creditcare Bronze/Silver/Gold - Preference Accounts and Loans

Hi there,

I have had a number of BOS Loans over the last 10 - 15 years. While applying I was told I must take Credit Care - being naive and young at the time I just accepted whatever I was told and did not question it.

I tried to call BOS PPI to make a claim and was told this is not PPI and I should call some other number to discuss this insurance.

I have all the policies etc in front of me which say it is covering Sickness, Death, Redundancy etc which sounds like PPI to me?!?

Can anyone advise how I best pursue this?
Question 1 - do I have a case for being forced to take it while in a job with sickness and death in service in my terms?
Question 2 - am I right thinking this is definitely PPI
Question 3 - what terms should I be looking at if any and highlighting in my case?
Question 4 - should I put this in writing to avoid fob offs by calling the BOS PPI line?

It is strange that this has changed suddenly - I called BOS to get all my account numbers a few years ago and was told some of my accounts did contain PPI. Is this the new BOS ploy to avoid paying out?

Any advice received by this bewildered amateur in these grounds

PPI does not cover death. All of Life Insurance, perhaps?

    I'm afraid not.

    Hi,
BOS offered CREDITCARE PPI on personal loans at the times you mention. There were 3 levels of cover; Gold, Silver and Bronze.

I successfully complained(in 2011} about CreditCare Bronze PPI being mis sold on a loan I took out with BOS in 2002. I still have the credit agreement, Courier Guide and Policy documents.

Can anyone advise how I best pursue this?

Look to http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance for your complaint reasons and advice.

When you've decided on your complaint reasons. I would follow the procedure on their website.

    Hope this helps
  • So I just found a very interesting letter from BOS from August 2013 from Mark Powys, Head of BOS Preference, as follows:

If you had a balance on your account during the period 6th June to 7th August 2013, and received a monthly statement between these dates, you may have noticed that we did not charge for your Payment Protection Insurance cover. We will not be asking for the premiums we failed to charge.

Interesting that even Bank of Scotland thought it was PPI!

    Time for another telephone call....

This relates to CreditCare PPI on BOS personal loans

Other posts on this forum (including mine) where posters have successfully received redress for mis sold CreditCare PPI.

    Good luck :)
  • Thanks very much. Some useful information in these threads isn't there.

I am in the process of filling out the BOS forms.

I am unsure of one thing which I hope someone can help with, the form asks for copies of original forms/Credit Agreements etc in association with the loans/accounts.

I have a lot of the original documents. Should I send these or is there more chance of success by providing less information (if that makes sense?)
