Santandar DD's

Hi,

Want to setup a 1-2-3 account.

Might be an uber newbie question but all my DD's go out from a HF account ( mortgage with them ) so I don't want to use a close and switch type transfer, so will need to open a new 1-2-3 account and transfer my DD's

Question is HOW do I transfer DD's manually to the new account if Im not using their switching service?

Cheers

Just contact the organisations you pay your DDs to and ask to change your bank account. They will need your Santander sort code and account number and they will do the rest.

You need 2 DDs to validate the 123 account, and certain payees for the cashback.

You cannot move DD's manually as the company taking the cash from your account has to set them up in the first place. Therefore you have t contact the companies concerned and give them your new details and they will set up the DD's.

In addition, if you currently use HF (which I assume means Halifax), then why could you not switch from Halifax to Santander using the switch service in the normal way? If you did this via Topcashback you could get around £36.75 to switch.
  • Hopefully wont get charged anything whilst that's being setup but with no DD's yet.

You will need to setup the two DD's within a month of opening it and you will be charged £2 per month anyway. Without the two DD's setup on the account you will not earn interest on the balance.

If you put your utility bills on it as DD's then you will get cashback and this willl offset the £2 monthly charge - hopefully.

Keep the Halifax account and 2 monthly paying DDs on it. Pay in £750 a month, and as long as you don't go overdrawn, they pay you £5.

None of this stops you to also have a 123 and make cashback from DDs (and possibly interest).

Plenty of posts about all this on the forum.
