If you used this you would be a purr-fect owner http://www.purrfectfence.co.uk/

I find that very useful information Al, thank you so much. I don't think it has an application with us at the moment because our two are neutered females who only travel up to 50 yards from home. We've had no complaints from neighbours and our moggies are safe, especially with us being able to locate them at all times.

If we had a male cat I think I would deploy this system for sure because they can roam up to 2 miles a night, even when neutered. I can also see other applications if for example we needed to isolate them in a "playpen" during bouts of illness or whatever.

The only thing I'd say which would be negative is that, for the average 5/8 the cost of erecting this system could be an obstacle and unfortunately it's from that section of the community where I'd say most problems arise - the poorest in society. Sadly they always seem to be the ones with most dogs or cats. For us I would estimate it would cost around £2,000 to adapt the existing fences with the kits provided. I can assure you we wouldn't hesitate to invest that sort of money in the safety and wellbeing of our cats. Unfortunately we're not the sort of people who need it.

Our plan for when we get older is to retire to a more isolated property with lots of free roaming space for cats. That means we're unlikely to need cat fencing then either but, if we do, at least we know where to get it thanks to you. I'll be telling other friends about this too.
