My phone came pre loaded with navigation, a blue triangular arrow in the apps list that has always worked for me.
It says you need to download a voice pack but I never have and it still talks to me.
This was on both my HTC wildfire and my current Samsung galaxy ace0 -
Google Maps?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

+1 for NavFree. You can download the required free maps and it works without a data connection.
I use it often and it works fine. In fact I use it now (with my phone in a windscreen cradle) instead of my old TomTom unit.0 -
I find waze excellent. Has various useful 'social' features to share traffic info and thus avoid certain routes, speed cameras and you can even send someone a link to track your journey so you don't have to be bothered by them phoning you to ask where you're up to.0

Google Maps?
That's what I use and find the sat nav function brilliant. Google maps is probably already loaded on your phone."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -
just d/load waze , job done0

I like NavFree because it doesn't need a data connection. Whilst it usually wouldn't be a problem for me I wouldn't want to run the risk of excess data usage - others on a limited data plan may feel the same.
This is particularly so if you plan to use it outside of the UK - roaming data could cost a fortune.0 -
I use Google MAPS (no separate icon for Navigation on later versions).
I also have Co-Pilot (costs about £20) as a backup.
I have NavFree and Waze installed too ... I'm definitely not gonna get lost lol0 -
I opted for Google Maps because your search results are amazing, as you can search for 'starbucks' and it will return brilliant relevant results, while in other satnav I used you need to enter separately post code, road name, etc! Or is there any other alternative?
However, Google maps says 'go south east', I don't need this! I don't have a compass with me to know where south east is! Also it doesn't say to which lane I need to drive or which side of the road to stay when the road divides! Any idea?0
