Windows & render

Hi, Hope someone can advise me.

This is own first home. We bought it 3 years ago in March.

Its now ready for a few new windows & render as blown on the front.

We have tried fixing the windows but I'd rather change, as they are tilt & turn - Which seem hopeless.

My question is. What is the best way to go about a quote for 3 windows & render? Should I go direct to a local builder ? Buy windows from a leading company? Source windows myself?

Thanks in advance.

Local fitter and a local plasterer: do not let one do both jobs :)

reason is window fitters dont necessarily make good multi tradesmen. They fit windows, but wont necesarilly do or do a good job of rendering.

be aware also - you say your tilts and turns are a nightmare. are these bedrooms? they might be stipulated by BC for escapement.

not sure on the latter point, check, but id rather have a tilt and turn in a smoky fire, than trying to squeeze out/ impale myself on a sash.
  • If you have solid walls, it may be worth looking at grants or Cashback for solid wall insulation which is essentially just rendering your house and may work out less by having more work done. If that makes sense.... Lol

It's more so my tilt & turns are stuck closed. They have been fixed a few times & keep getting jammed like this.
