Well done eveyone on the savings so far! Can I ask, have you just started shopping in the reduced section or have you always had a look?
Today I got some branded chilli sausages for 75p instead of £3.00 for 5 so I bought two packs and thought they'd do for either Halloween or non fire night in a casserole or hotdogs? Undecided atm but I would defo not pay £3 for them xDs2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

Turkey escalopes £1
Small lamb joint £1.32
Broccoli 29p

My local coop are having refrigerator issues so their meat selection hasn't been great the last week or so.... Hopefully when they restock it'll be back to the good old daysI'm C, Mummy to DS 29/11/2010 and DD 02/11/2013

Just a tip to use up all those reduced bargains. Try and get hold of a copy - it never was anything but a paperback, so it's cheap - of the late Jocasta Innes' Pauper's cookbook'. The original came out in the 1970s and has been reprinted (different editions have some different recipes in them) many, many times. All the recipes are yummy and cheap, and there are sections on how to shop, budget etc. and it's a good read, I still use it today and continue to get compliments. Great recipes for hot meat loaf, brisket of beef, soups, puddings, what to do with leftovers etc. Copies generally available on ebay and Amazon. I can't recommend it highly enough.0

Thanks, I'll look out for that one.
My favourite is Poor Cook by Susan Campbell and Caroline Conran, which was also originally published in 1971. My paperback copy fell to bits through heavy use but I inherited my late Mum's copy.

WEnt in last Thursday evening and it is rarely that I buy anything from Selfridges as it is just too expensive, but noticed that they had reduced their luxury pies from £4.99 each down to £1.24, so I bought 4, Chicken & Chorizo, Potato & Ox Cheek, Cheese & Onion and Steak & Ale. They are not massive pies, but are good for a treat mid week. Certainly wouldn't pay £4.99 for them as they only feed one person, or 2 if you are feeling really skimpy
