Anybody use lpg for cooking?

Does anyone use lpg bottled gas for cooking?

How do you find it and how and where do you keep the gas bottle?

Many thanks.

Fitted one in last kitchen: It's a gas hob - if you're used to it then you won't have any problems with it being LPG instead.

There are quite a few regs for the positioning of the bottles, so please consult a GSR on the subject.
In this instance the bottles/regulator/switchover were situated 9m away from the kitchen, around the back of the house.

    Your GSR will advise.

Had LPG cooker and Central heating at previous cottage. Large bottles (4) with automatic changeover valve located app 10 mtrs from house. Have mains gas now for heating and cooking and the only difference I find is the cost of LPG compared to mains gas, LPG much more expensive. To be honest i would just go for electric if LPG was just for cooking.

Thank you very much for your replies.

So would you say that LPG is more expensive or cheaper than cooking by electricity?

LPG is expensive but if there's a power cut you can still cook away while those with electric cooker will be eating sandwiches :)

We have dual fuel LPG/electric cooker and find that a 13 kg bottle will last us well over a year. We have had the stove over five years and have only just started the fourth bottle.

duel fuel here, log hob and electric oven. 47kg bottle lasts about three years. Inherited them when we moved here and could not believe how long it lasted!

So how have you got your bottle attached?

    Thank you

We have two propane bottles outside the house (oddly, I believe that you can keep up to two butane bottles in the house) connected via a manual change over valve.

Not our house, but like this...

You could connect up the bottles one at a time but it might be a bit of a faff if one runs out on a rainy night.

This is probably a dim question but what is the difference between bottled propane and butane gas?
