telescopic parking posts

It looks as if that's what I require to ensure strangers can't park on my land, but my own visitors can?

Have I got it right that that is what I require? That way I can keep them up in place to prevent strangers trespassing onto my land with their vehicles for parking on the one hand, but I can "shove them back" into the ground when I want my own visitors to be able to drive in and park on the other hand?

If I've got that right - then has anyone any recommendations of ones they have found good and "good value for money" please?

Any guesstimates welcome as to how much it will cost for:
a. the things themselves.

b. A workmans labour to put them in place? (eg how many hours it would take for that).

Here's a folding one in screwfix. It's bolted to a concrete base so should be quite easy to install if you already have a concrete slab, otherwise you will need to get some concrete laid also.

  • As above^

This one is a lot cheaper . . others are available ;) search: parking posts

I have to interject here. They are mostly all fine, but there is 1 major issue.
Most installees eventually run into or over their intended deterrent,:eek::eek::eek:

Hoisted by one's own petard is a phrase that comes to mind.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

be aware there are two types

    - collapsible parking posts, easier to install but annoying when you run over them. can burst your tyres too if youre particularly gun ho
    - telescopic ones that collapse into the ground. Look nice and easy to drive over, but take more installation . as you have to dig a hole to put the housing in.

I think I'd just go for the folding one for visitors, as the in-ground ones are very expensive.

This company have a good reputation:

Installation cost will depend upon what's there now. I couldn't price it, as I do jobs like this for myself, but I imagine two 'visits' might be necessary; one to prepare the site, and one to install (quicker.)

Not being a cardriver myself, its difficult for me to visualise what would work as I require.

By "collapsible", I guess that means those ones that can be made to lie down? I presume these will get fully "out of the way" and its possible to drive over them if the owner of them wants that and can lock or unlock them and make them lie flat and cars can easily drive over them?

On the other hand I could lock a couple of collapsible ones in place and, until I unlocked them, no-one could drive past them?

That's basically what I want - ie a parking post or two that my visitors can get past when I want, but no intruders can get past them.

Sounds like maybe collapsible ones would do what I require???

EDIT; Whats there now is tarmac, so that is what the posts would be going into.

First glance at the Jacksons ones and will study in more detail. Think they might do the trick.

Each one would need a plug of concrete inserted into the tarmac first, to provide a firm fixing, as on one of the pictures in the link I gave you.
