Sounds like a hooky illegal hid conversion. I'd reject the car under SOGA based on it not being roadworthy at the time of purchase.

The alternative to to buy a couple of new ballasts from eBay for about £30 making sure they're the same wattage and fit them yourself (very easy) as this is a classic case of a cycling ballast due to age.

    OFFS. Seriously?

You think you can reject a car for what you're admitted yourself is a £30 fix?

Right here is what i would be doing.

I'd be asking for a meeting with the sales manager / dealer principal and explain the situation.

At the end of the day you bought a car from a Honda Main Dealer under the Approved Used scheme because you wanted the best of the best and a hassle free buying experience.

You have not got that from them - there is an aftermarket kit fitted to the car with which you personally are having a lot of hassle.

If you dont get any satisfaction from them, ring Honda UK customer service and explain whats happened. That car should not have been sold under an "Approved Used" Main Dealer with those still fitted.

Ask them to replace the units with the correct lights.

Where is the 3 attempts stated in the SOGA? The car is not road worthy and was sold as so. This is criminal offence under the RTA which I'm sure could be construed to a breach of contract in SOGA, giving cause for rejection. OK the time passed may pose a problem but a simple reminder of the consequences of selling unradworthy cars may be enough to persuade them. To put it right or accept the car back, whatever the op prefers.

Yes O/P. Tell them an armchair expert on the internet said they were breaking the law and should give you a full refund or he will have them closed down. :rotfl:

Thanks for the replies guys. So do you think my best option is to take it to the auto electricians, and if it's a reasonable price then just just pay for it? But if not then I think I shall take motorguys approach and hopefully that will settle it.

I didn't have a problem with putting some of my own money towards it (for labour or whatever), I'm just annoyed at the fact that Honda said they're unable to help with a car that they sold me and I haven't changed.

No, I'd say that what motorguy has suggested is your best option. Why pay out your own money when it should be fixed by Honda?

You went to Honda to avoid these issues, so try to get them to sort it as suggested :)

Motorguys solution will get the result, the organ grinder may not know whats been going on, he isn;t going to be best impressed when he finds out a Honda approved used, he effectively supplied and approved, has some dodgy HiD illegal conversion.
