Is my bathroom budget enough

Hello

We have just been give a quote by our builder to renovate and reconfigure two bathrooms.

We are happy with the quote but we now need to budget for the fixtures and fittings.

Each bathroom is approx 2.5m x 2m, fully tiled and we will need a toilet, basin, 1600mm bath and a seperate shower enclosure for each. It will help a little that we can reuse the towel rails in both bathrooms.

We are aiming to get all this for £1000 per bathroom.

Is this realistic and can anyone recomenend any retailer where I can get the most for my money?

Thanks :)

What reconfiguring needs doing? That might affect quotes massively.

I'd say £1000 each is going to be exceptionally tight.

We spent about £5k having our single bathroom done including shifting waste pipes, electrics, tiling, and some plastering etc

£1000 per bathroom is just for fixtures and fittings - labour and other materials have already been quoted at £3000 per bathroom.
  • I'd say your budget is possible unless you are including tiles then may be a little tight.

    Bathroom suites

    Shower enclosures

Any reason why you are not getting the fixtures from the plumber as they can often get better discounts than you or i and will be liable if anything goes wrong, eg wrong item delivered, faulty etc. It would be down to them to sort it out not you.

I would ask them to quote for fixtures and compare with what you can find on your own. just make sure you are comparing like for like, as they may well specify better products.

You don't say you want them to match, or have any particular requirements for a specific quality or style - thought about freegle/freecycle?

So the labour is for fitting your supplied goods including tiling??, Yeah?

That's very fair, getting the suite and tiles will be very dependent on your screwed purchasing.

The answer:, Yes but you hjave to work hard, top MSER in my view,:T:T:T
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

It's a friend who is doing it as part of a bigger project so his cost is very good as it also includes removing a chimney stack that takes out a corner from both bathrooms. But yes, it includes tiling and fitting.

There are a few more bits we can use from the existing bathrooms - decent taps etc - but we have increased our budget by anther £500 to include tiles.
