I went down to the nearset office about 3mls away and they said to go home and phone. Then i only sat with the phone to my ear for an hour when the music stopped and a real person spoke. I was so shocked i didn't know what to say.
Anyway got an appointment for the end of next week.

I had one of those Atos medicals a few weeks ago, then yesterday got a phone call to say i'd failed and would need to start claiming JS although i could appeal.
The same thing happend earlier in the year and once my appeal went in i was given the same single JS payment but without having to sign-on.
Now i've just been to our local Welfare Rights office who helped me last time, i expected him to say i'd continue getting benefit now the appeal process had started, exactly the same as last time. But he said the rules have changed and while i'm appealing i need to sign on.
I don't even know where to go, it must be about 35yrs ago last time i was unemployed and that office has long been knocked down.
I'm 62 next birthday and can start to claim Pension Credit in June 2016, just 20 mths so i was hoping they'd just leave me alone until then. I think with my recent medical problems it's highly unlikely i'd be offered a job.
How do you find them?0 -

It doesn't make sense, that you say you apppealed earlier this year.. and got paid You must mean last year 2013,
You can't have appealed a decision in 2014, been to tribunal, made a new, claim and been assessed by ATOS again, on the new claim, all within 10 months.0 -

What do you mean, 'how do find them?'
I went to our local shopping centre and they have an office there.
Or do you mean what do i think of the service i got ?
They helped a lot better the first time earlier in the year when they came with me to the appeal after i failed my first Atos medical, although we never won the appeal i have been able to claim reduced benefits without having to go to sign-on. This time though they couldn't help as much 'cos of a change in the law, i can't get any benefits unless i sign-on. But they are still helping me with the appeal.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Sounds as if you went to appeal early this year but the original decision must have been before October 2013. Otherwise you would have had to have a reconsideration first and claim JSA.0 -

I've been to dig out my paperwork.
I had the letter saying if i was to continue getting IB and IS i'd need to go to Atos, that was the the Summer of 2013, then i attended a medical at the start of Autumn.

Id this a C.A.B office?or is it called something different?0 -
Different situation, but I've just had to sign on due to being made redundant after 25 years.
The first interview was asking questions about what jobs I'd be applying for, taking in paperwork to show them (ID, p45 etc,) Don't expect them to be helpful, it was purely a form filling in exercise, about what days, times, I could work, etc and checking my circumstances - caring responsibilities, limitations etc. And giving me info about what I needed to tell them, signing on with universal job match etc.
The next one was with the job coach. That's a smile nicely and play the game one. Just don't tick the box giving them access to universal job match. The going in every day thing would be a lot further down the line if they didn't think you were really looking. Show them a cv, sign up for things - I'm doing voluntary work and a computer course, show you're phoning up for jobs and sending in applications and they'll leave you to get on with it for a bit. Doesn't seem to matter if you're applying for jobs you've got no hope of getting, it's a numbers game to keep ticking the boxes. Until you get your esa sorted. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Welfare Rights and CAB are differnt places but do similar jobs.
I think the WR as the name suggests only deal with helping people claim benefits wereas the CAB helps with 1001 things.
The WR is less than a mile from where i live but the CAB over 3mls, that's why i went there.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
