AMEX Platinum Cashback vs Barclaycard Cashback

Hi,
I switched my Freedom rewards to B/Card cashback I'm also in possession of a AMEX Platinum Cashback -
Seeing as AMEX gives me 1.25% and B/card gives me 1% for AMEX side and 0.5% for Visa it would make sense to cancel AMEX right?
The reason I think this is as AMEX has a £25 annual fee and B/card doesn't,id effectively have the opportunity to make more money through B/card by putting all my spends on that?
Jusr want to gather some thoughts, whether I'm missing something, whether I'd be missing out on anything particular. Thank you guys in advance,
GreenLightLuke

If you spend more than £10,000 per year on Amex you would be better off putting all that spend on the Platinum card with the £25 fee.
If you spend less than £10,000 per year on Amex you would be better off cancelling the Platinum and using the Barclaycard Amex.0 -
Out of curiosity, how long have you been with BarclayCard?Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

Thank you for the reply and I have been with Barclaycard about 2 years now - I had the Barclaycard initial, then switched that to the Freedom Rewards - I called them up and asked if they would swap me over to the cash back credit cards.0 -

That is brilliant thank you - I thought as much. I appreciate the reply.0 -
i am an Amex Cashback cardholder, find that to be excellent.
Barclaycard have nothing that compares.
my non-Amex alternative is the CapOne Elite card.0 -

Barclaycard Cashback pays 1% on all Amex spending with no annual fee, it's not a bad contender
. It also have 0.5% on its Visa, which is about as good as you'll get without an annual fee, and the cashback can be requested at any time.
Granted, you have to ask for it as an existing customer, but since they're dishing them out (mine arrived having swapped a Freedom Rewards account over, a couple of weeks ago), I assume they'll make them available to all at some point.0 -

Yeah I've enquired with BarclayCard continually since the Cashback card was announced if I can transfer, and they kept fobbing me off. After your post today I phoned up and enquired again and they finally told me you can't switch products with them until you've been with them for 6 months, then they'll happily transfer me over.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you.
