ebay cancel transaction

Hi
I had a bid on one of my items on ebay and the bidder contacted me to say he could no longer afford it and wanted to cancel the transaction.
I didn't mind so I sent a cancel transaction request which , he said , he declined by accident.
ebay has now closed the case and said I will not recieve a final value fee and marked the case as closed.
I lost about £4.00 so its not the end of the world but for future reference should I just report a unpaid item if I have that situation again?

  • i would say yes as cancelling the transaction gives you a defect but im not 100% sure

Can you open a UnPaid Item case?
If not, contact eBay CS & they will refund the FVF

Don't foget to block the buyer from bidding on any further items, definitely one who sounds too stupid for ebay.

Depends on the 'reason' you select. I cancelled one yesterday with reason as 'other' and no defect (ebay also confirmed via live chat there would be no defect)

OP has already sent a cancellation which was declined, so no.

Op if you have a defect, then ring CS, get them to review the messages and ask for the defect to be removed. As TKP says, ask them to manually refund the FVF.
