ebay cancel transaction

Hi
I had a bid on one of my items on ebay and the bidder contacted me to say he could no longer afford it and wanted to cancel the transaction.
I didn't mind so I sent a cancel transaction request which , he said , he declined by accident.
ebay has now closed the case and said I will not recieve a final value fee and marked the case as closed.
I lost about £4.00 so its not the end of the world but for future reference should I just report a unpaid item if I have that situation again?

Can you open a UnPaid Item case?
If not, contact eBay CS & they will refund the FVF0 -
Don't foget to block the buyer from bidding on any further items, definitely one who sounds too stupid for ebay.0

Depends on the 'reason' you select. I cancelled one yesterday with reason as 'other' and no defect (ebay also confirmed via live chat there would be no defect)0 -
