Log in/log out and register comps?

Hi I'm new to this site and was wondering if anyone could answer some questions for me?

Some comps say that you must register to enter,but I've found that if I don't it still lets me use the entry form. Is it always essential to register before? Even when I'm putting all my contact info on the entry form.

Also could anyone tell me why you must log out of Cheshire life? It seems like all posts specifically say to log out.

If you don't register and it is part of the T&Cs then your entry can be discarded.

Some sites leave the details on public view of the last person logged in that may apply to Cheshire life (not used it myself)

Thanks for answering. Does that mean people could see my personal info like name and address?
