Is it normal to not receive a fuel bill when using a key meter? How do people work out how much they use and the unit cost? Should the landlord pass on an invoice?
TIA

Read the readouts on the meters - they will give you all the information. You need to stick the key card in the meter to access all the information.
You should be very careful of paying for previous tenants' debts - if you have not moved in together at the start of the tenancy and changed the key meter to your own account then it is possible the landlord and supplier are passing off previous debts to you.0 -

If you are responsible for paying for the fuel, then you should have informed the supplier. In which case it is nothing to do with the landlord.
With a PPM you know how much you have spent, because you have to spend it before you can use it. The meter will show any accrued credit (or possible debit) on the meter.
If you have not informed the supplier but are using a key provided by a previous account holder to top up you will be crediting their account.0 -

Hi, it's not me it's my ex. I've gone through his paperwork to sort other things out and realised there's no bills. When I asked him he said it's a key and it's all done through the landlord.
I'm trying to work out how much he uses and how much is charged for each unit (and maybe change supplier).
I'll start by looking for information on the meter.0 -
A key is not done through the LL, unless it's a private meter.
More info needed. No free lunch, and no free laptop

OK that may be it then. Should I still be able to tell how much he uses from the meter and how much he's charged for it? Should he get an invoice?
I'll find out more tomorrow.0 -

Not necessarily.0 -
When he gets his new key and starts using it, all the kwhrs he uses will be displayed on screen "H" which should be on zero when his new key is inserted. Screen "G" will have the total kwhrs since the meter was installed The price per each kwhr is on another of the screens, it will be in the order of approx 14 p each kwhr ( or one unit )busybee100 wrote: »OK that may be it then. Landlords dont get involved in paying or handling prepay meter usage.
One proviso tho, and its quite common , is for someone to move into a tampered prepay meter where they get their electricity free, no need for any top-ups OR, the landlord himself has tampered it. It happens a lot.0 -
Managed to check it today. I had to keep pressing a button to change the display. It's set for 15.89p per kwh plus £1.?? which I think was a weekly charge.0
