Problem with Scottish Power & no electricity.

I bought a house on the 8th of last month and am still trying to get the power turned on. Someone removed the main service fuse, so I contacted Scottish power who the current meter is with and they stated I would need a new meter as well. Three times I have booked for someone to come out to replace the fuse and meter and no one turns up. You call Scottish Power only to be on hold the first time for 52 min, then when you finally get through you get cut off, then after another 50 minutes when you finally get through again. So far I have had the excuses of the first person did not book the appointment for Sept 18 correctly, the second time booked for 2nd Oct, someone booked the wrong date(and is very easy to do on their system apparently). Yesterday it was suppose to be in the morning and no one turned up again. After the usual 50 min wait to speak to someone at Scottish Power, I was basically told someone had not released the appointment for the job to be done, and the next available appointment would be on the 20th Oct. I was then given the number for Northern Power grid and told to call them, and for them to say it's nothing to do with them and that Scottish Power is just fobbing me off and it is their responsibility. I then called Scottish Power back after the usual 50 minutes on hold only to be told there is nothing they can do now as everything is closed as it was after 6pm and they would call me this morning. Each time they make an appointment it either means time off of work or a friend there for me sitting in a cold house for hours with no heating or electric. I've got to the point where I can't afford to keep two places going while the power, etc. is sorted out, so have had to move into the house with no power, or heating. Living with a camp stove for a bit of cooking, and rechargeable light which I have to take to work to recharge and under blankets to try and keep warm. I'm just at my wits end and this whole thing is starting to take it's toll on my health, and just feeling exhausted and tired all the time.......all this just for a missing main service fuse. It's getting colder at the moment and I can't even put any heating on as the boiler is a combi that requires electric. I don't know what to do at the moment????? I don't know if I can switch suppliers and get this sorted out quicker through someone else or what???? Any help, advice, support would be 'warmly' welcomed. Thanks

As a very much EX Scottish Power customer and my son who will soon be an EX Scottish Power customer I can only say "Welcome to a normal day in the life of Scottish Power". They used to be an excellent company to deal with but now to say that they are abysmal is giving them credit!
