Too much synchronising !

I have two computers networked through a Netgear router and up until recently I only got the synchronising message when the computers were switched off. I now get this message every few minutes and find it aggravating as I have to stop typing a document until it disappears again. It's only a couple of seconds I have to wait for it to go but it ruins my concentration.

Does anyone know how to stop it ?

What kind of sychronising is it?

If it's Windows 2000/XP Offline files then it shouldn't pop up unless the connection is lost and restored. If you don't actually use it then you can disable it from Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > Offline Files. If you use it then maybe you should check your connection consistency via Start > Run > cmd > ping <ip of other machine> -t. Any packet loss points to a problem with the router or network cards. As far as I'm aware there isn't a way of tuning the sensitivity of the computer going offline, it's only on or off.

If you want more clarification then just ask :)
  • Thanks robnye and busabus, I will try your suggestions and see if there's any improvement.
