No caps/number lock on windows 8

I have an Acer Aspire E5-511 with windows 8 and only when I started to use it did I notice there was no longer a light indicator that tells you when the caps/number lock is on. I find it really frustrating and the only thing I have found so far is the sound indicator, but to be honest I can't tell which sound means it on and which means it is off so I dont find this useful at all.

Has anyone found a better way of showing these are on?

What was wrong with having a light to indicate they were on? I can't understand why they seem to have got rid of this useful feature it in windows 8?

Why do they do these things, they rarely seem for the better of the user. I am a keyboard person as much as I can be and really miss the number lock more than the caps lock, but it is frustrating with passwords when you are never sure if you have the caps lock on or off, always getting told my password is wrong.

that is one of the (few) things you can't blame on Win8

You can get programs that give an on-screen indication of whether caps lock and num lock are on. I found this...

My Acer laptop came with a taskbar shortcut called "acer device fast lane".

This has an indicator for task bar lock, caps lock and scroll lock.

Just turn on the toggle key tones - Control panel, Ease of access Center, Make keyboard easier to use, Turn on toggle keys.
