Virgin and Little Red flight cancellation

If you want specific advice then you have to give specific information! In this case, specific flight numbers and dates (of both the flights you booked and the flights they offered).
I cant see anywhere that I asked you (or anyone else) for advice on how reasonable their replacement flights were? I stated these for completeness.
The more helpful responders have helped to arm us with the regulations and constructive advice with their considered replies which have helped us resolve this.
Thanks again to them.0 -

After the initial posting we received another email to say the Manc - LTH was cancelled too.
Looks as though it'll be a phone call today - we've seen two flights that are very similar - such that we could use the hotel.
Do the airlines who cancelled the booking normally rebook for you or do you book new flights and hope they will reimburse?
Cheers again
After round two on the phone it appears that the Virgin Red flight on the 28th from Manc - LTH is still in place (the return is cancelled though) - hence misinformation in both the email and info OH was given yesterday from Virgin.
Now all sorted with replacement flights which are almost the same as we had.
So you were absolutely correct with your Virgin Red info.
We could be on the last Virgin Red flight!! (Fingers crossed!!).
Cheers again to those that sorted us out with the info we required.
Its really appreciated.0 -

no need to be rude. You asked whether what they offered was within the regulations, which are ' comparable' transport conditions but without knowing the airport and flight details no-one knows if they are comparable.
Also what did you mean by airport LTH?The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

I'm glad you got a good result.
In terms of the regulations, a change of time of eight hours or more is treated differently from a shorter delay, so those details are needed in order to give advice about your rights.0 -

But the flights were cancelled, so comparable conditions apply.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

For completeness! Hardly complete...
And I'm glad you found the generalised and hypothetical advice helpful. There was me thinking you'd like advice based on your actual situation - God I feel stupid.0 -
sorry for hijacking this thread
but this is news to me (about Virgin & Little Red etc)
we have flights booked from Manchester to London Heathrow, going onto to New York JFK
are flights are booked for 01.April.2015
any ideas what will happen, I've booked via expedia
but have not herd a thing off either expedia or virgin
any advice would be appreciated0 -
just spoke to Virgin online chat
who advised me to contact Expedia, as they should sort out alternate flights free of charge or a full refund***
not sure what that means, full flight refund or transfer flight refund, don't want to cancel full flight etc
anyway just phoned Expedia, who didn't know about Virgins cancelled service, they rckon the spoke to virgin USA as Virgin UK closed on Sunday
end result I have to call back tomorrow to see what they can/will do
have checked online, it looks like BA still do/have flights from Manchester to Heathrow, so hopefully they should sort out flights (with luggage allowance)0
