Fogged windows...READ THIS

Just a tip really.
We have lived here some 30 years, and the double glazing is as old. Recently, and all of a sudden, most of the West facing and South windows have broken down, fogging and looking horrid!
Well, first reaction was ouch, my wallet hurts. I looked at ads, and saw that drilling holes in and cleaning was £60 plus per window, or replace at £150 plus per window. Also, many of the windows had 'gone too far' to be cleaned, so had to be replaced. With 2 big bays, each 8 windows, plus others, well, not happy.
Then I started thinking...DIY. Phoned the local glazing company, to find that a large dg picture window costs....£30 to make! Yes, we can then add for safety glass (building regs) and maybe more efficient glass if I do the whole of the bays.
Looked at Youtube, and there are a couple of good vids on taking off the internal glazing bars, so I did it, removed the unit to measure it, put it back, 20 minutes tops.
Frankly, so long as the frame etc is in good condition, no brainer. You can also use this opportunity to clean the outside UPVC (careful, don't fall out) and maybe even replace some of the UPVC strips tidying up the inside.
Frankly, I reckon for £1000 or so I can replace all windows in my biggish 3 bed semi, and can do it in my own time.
Hope that helps, I feel it is my bit of payback to the great things I have gotton from this site.
