Cycle Lanes - really safe?

I thought there was something in law about cycle lights weren't aloud to flash, and if cylists have a flashing light they must also have a constant light.
Up to 4hz, red rear and white front are legal.
In fact, most constant lights on sale are not sufficient for night riding to meet the law, nor are most flashing lights that have a flash mode. This is because they don't meet either a British standard or European equivalent.0 -
Is the gripe about lanes or lights?0

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned epilepsy and flashing lights. I could not have my lights flashing with my mother in sight.0

Probably because anyone who speaks out against the arms race of brightest light = only object seen, therefore brighter is better (at the expense of the dimmer ones) is accused of having criminally defective vision.
Yet people who freely admit they they cannot see a moving car with sidelights on under streetlights are fine, because the car needed 35W of HID lighting to be seen in the first place.
They can't see a pushbike with a flashing splodge of cheap Halfords Led lamp, but 5200 lumens worth of Cree LEDs strobing straight into their eyes is fine because they can see it.
Bitter & Cynical? Me? :rotfl:I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
