Silence from OR

I went BR in June, it took them until August to send a letter to me to sign to have a plan set up to take £80 a month. I written to the email on the letter they sent to tell them I could not agree as I could not afford it, I sent to another person I was also dealing with at the insolvency service, neither replied so I sent a follow up to the email to ask if they received the previous email and to reply as it was causing me great anxiety. Still nothing back and still the tax office hasn't been informed of my BR and it is October. I cannot get in contact with anybody but the switchboard ever.

What the hell am I sup[posed to do.

I found that my local IS office was actually very close to where I work so I went round once and they had a little reception desk and I handed some paperwork in - would it be possible to make a personal visit? If not - telephone them. You need some sort of resolution to this.

You only ever get the switchboard as they do not answer their phones and the switchboard diverts you to their phone, which is never answered. I was told to email as they would pick it up, but they clearly are not. I can't get into their office it is in the centre of town which is 12 miles away. I have nothing to hand them anyway, only that I cannot afford to enter into any kind of IPO/A.

What happens if I just leave it now, it is like I do not exist to them.

Try and recorded delivery letter - you need proof you have tried to communicate with them.

There is no address to write to on the letter. Only email addresses of which I have attempted several times to communicate with.

As tigerfeet says - their registered office will be a matter of public record, they are not hard to find. I would try and make sure you have lots of proof that you tried all reasonable means to contact them and a recorded delivery letter is strong evidence.
If you call them from a PM mobile, the call would be recorded on your bill I assume?
  • Do you know the person dealing with your case? or just the office, as it may be wise to send the e-mails to all addresses known so it would be - whicheveroffice.OR@insolvency.gsi.gov.uk and firstname.surname@insolvency.gsi.gov.uk (sent to both examiner and case officer), hopefully sending it to all three will get some response as a manager should check the office e-mail box daily.

Until the IPA is sorted out though, I would put away what you can, as you would still be expected to make the 36 payments from when the amount is agreed. The sooner you were to start the payments the sooner it would all be over.

If you don't agree with the figures given to you by the OR ask them for a copy of their breakdown and they will forward this to you, so you can review it.
I worked as a case clerk for the IS for a number of years. Any views expressed are my own. If your query is urgent, please contact the OR or LTADT dealing with your case directly.

But thats the thing, I personally cannot afford to live on the budget I have. I am already behind with water rent and council tax, and I haven't been paying them a bean yet. I can't live by the budget at all, I have other problems which relate to the reason why, but it doesn't matter what they say or ask of me, I just cannot stick to the budget they want me to. I need to speak to them really because it is not fair that they just ignore me especially when I am making clear to them it is causing me great distress.

Your SOA was completed by you, to reflect your domestic expenditure, surely?

You need to find out what the OR disagrees with.

    RE-the Nil Tax code?

Often delays in implementation are with HMRC.

The amount they asked for is more than agreed in the budget. I had £30 spare they decided they were taking 80. Truth is, I can't afford to do so at any level now as my costs have increased and I have difficulties managing finances, which is partly down to a medical condition. Either way I always end up living at least 2 weeks of the month with no money at all.
