Hiya. I am a long-time lurker and new member and I could really do with some help. We are looking at getting a laptop to replace out desktop - mainly so we don't need a desk taking up all the room . We need something pretty good - we don't do a lot of gaming but do Skype and are on the internet most of the time. I don't like the idea of cloud storage so want something that will store documents , pictures etc. I do blog sometimes and need to store paperwork and a fair bit of music .
I have quite a small budget but I am also maybe getting the kids a laptop each for GCSE/A-level work for Christmas too . The budget on theirs is about £250 ish whereas ours is £300 ish ( but don't tell them!) .
I hope you techy folk can help as I still struggle with a tin- opener!
Thanks

Does it have to be new?
In your budget you may be lucky and get something from the Dell Outlet? They are returns or refurbished but like brand new with a warranty and boxed like new.0 -
ooh good idea. No it doesn't have to be new but at the same time not really old and slow either . I'll look at Dell Outlet . Thanks.0

Over the years when looking for a laptop I always go to the Argos outlet on Ebay.

They always have a good selection at various prices. On two occasions I have bought refurbished laptops and both looked new and have been running great. All their stuff, including refurbs are covered by a 12mts guarantee.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0 -
That's just what I'm after - something where I have a bit of comeback if it crashes on |Boxing day but cheaper than new . Pukka i'll give that a look ! I.E. I'll probably be back to check spec with you !0
