American Express Platinum Everyday Cashback Card

Just completed an app for this card. It said I'd get a response within 60 seconds but now it's saying they'll get in touch with me in 10 days time?

Anyone else get this message?

And if so, did they get in touch via post or email? And was it 10 days later, or did they get in touch earlier than 10 days? Asking because, I'm just about to go away for two weeks.

Thanks!

This is a referral. In my case it was because they didn't like my address (I live in a flat which isn't in old versions of the postcode database). My card landed on my mat before I had any contact from them to confirm my acceptance (about 2 days after application). Your mileage may vary of course, depending on why they referred you.
  • All you can infer is that the computer couldn't give a 100% automated response, but not why.

Last time I had this I rang up immediately. The person I spoke to could see that it was flagged for further checks, and a few seconds later had approved me! (I assume it was some very minor point).

May be worth giving them a call?

Yes, I've had this one. The whole city in which we live had its postcodes rejigged a decade ago, and there still seem to be companies that haven't caught up!

Same here, first I knew of being accepted was the card through the door.

    Ah, alright. Thanks guys.

Just tried ringing them a few minutes ago and the chap I spoke to was very nice and gave me the number for the new accounts/applications department. I shall ring them tomorrow when they open.

    Cheers! :)
