Av sender swiches smart tv on...

...even tho they arent connected.

have av senders set up to beam sky signal from bedroom to kitchen, they work perfectly but my recent samsung tv keeps coming off standby when i use remote to turn things on in kitchen, what would be causing that? Is only solution to switch smart tv off rather than have it on standby?

Is it the IR blaster that is causing the smart tv to turn on?
If so you could effectively screen the blaster so it doesn't hit the smart tv ir receiver.
  • Will try shielding it but the two sensors arent really that close as it is...

    **LONG SHOT**

OK does the bedroom have it's own sky box?
Is the smart TV also connected to another Sky Box?

    And/Or

Is the Bedroom Sky Box plugged into your network? (Sky services need that for some things).

Only think I can think of is when you turn the Sky Box on remotely that is triggering a signal on the network to tell the Smart TV to wake.

Try taking the network cable out of the Smart TV or the Sky Box and see if the same thing happens.

If it's still happening, check the location of the TV to the door in the living room. IR signals can bounce a fair distance given the right wall surfaces.

(Personal record is 5 meters, an angled shiny door and a wall between my Remote and TV)

stick a tissue box in front of the TV's IR sensor, see if it still turns on.

New sky software has an option where hdmi controls the tv - so turning on that sky box will wake the tv..
  • Room has a sky box and both tv and sky box are wired to my router, tried going wireless with the tv but it still switches on from downstairs, just started disconnecting tv at wall to avoid it coming on at 5am and waking house when i use remote on kitchen tv...

Spot-on, located the HDMI Control switched it to off and no more problems.

    Thanks.
