How do I get building control docs please

Similar thing is happening to me, so I sympathise. Had an extension done six years ago that wasn't signed off. All site visits were done, thankfully, and all I need to sign off are electrical certificates that I have just had to obtain. This entailed all the sockets in the extension being taken to pieces to check the work was OK, it was, and certificates issued (minor works though, no new circuits). Now just waiting for building control certificate.
I am now older and wiser:o
Not a nice thing to deal with when you are midway through a sale!0 -
Thank you again for the replies on this.
We are waiting for a reply from the Architect as apparently the partner who did the work has moved on.
We are pretty good at filing records and have all the planning related stuff but nothing regarding building control. Maybe the architect has this?
All the lights, sockets work, there are no cracks or damp patches and the roof & brickwork where they keyed into the existing walls is all still sound so hopefully we will be OK.
Agreed, it's not what you need when you are going through selling & buying a house and moving jobs.

If the building control was issued by the council they should have copies. May even be available online.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Because we had kept all the related documents, emails, receipts, etc I was able to show them to the Building Control Officer just now.
In there was confirmation that Building Control had been out to check foundations prior to work commencing and also work in progress.
He went through them and had a good look at the extension and will be emailing us our Certificate when he gets back to the office later today.
PHEW!

Good result - glad it worked out.
it is often a grey area between Client, Architect and Builder, and often gets missed.0 -
Phew indeed!
I'm very pleased for you, OP.

The BC Officer was impressed with all the paperwork/records of schedule of works, emails etc we had as well as the work itself.
He seemed to think it was a bonus that the electrics and plumbing were relatively simple in as much as they had just been moved 2 feet out from their original position rather than being completely relocated.
Before he came I made sure the original ceiling light went on/off, the radiator worked, the electrical socket had appliances in that I switched on/off and the telephone socket worked.
As it was raining hard he could see there were no damp patches, etc.
However a very big THANK YOU to everyone for their advice and moral support.
I'm now off to pour a large G&T
