Best cat insurance.

Owing to the fact my Tom cat has a death wish, I'm considering getting him insured. Which is the best insurer who does quibble if you need to claim? Is it Argos or petplan? Many Thanks.

I'm with Argos for our 3, I was contemplating switching two of them petplan but since we already have a claim with Argos for the eldest (he had a death wish with lilies) I've decided to keep all of them with Argos since we've had no problems with the exception of the claim taking around 3 weeks to pay-out, it says within 10 days, but it was apparently a "busy time of year".

Salem's insurance went up from around £7 to £11 after the claim in 2011 (we'd only had the plan 4 months) but this year it went back down to just under £8.

George is with Argos Platinum, they paid for his knee surgery so then had to stay with them. Currently about £25.00 per month payment for 7k per year cover.

The other 3 boys are with PetPlan.

This thread inspired me to go on the argos website and get a quote for my cat. I selected 'Non-Pedegree' and it asked me to select a breed anyway. Now I'm not sure which breed to go for; "moggy" "moggie" or "black"! I wonder if will affect the price?!

domestic shorthair seems to be insurance term for moggies - I got 4 of those :)

boys are always a bit more to insure than girls (I asked why was told boys are more prone to accidents/fights - hmmmm) then of course where you live plays a part

my daughter's 2 girls cost £25.00 per month for both of them to be insured with PetPlan

My boys (same age but in London) paying around £25.00 each
  • Do petplan pay the vet directly? does anyone know please? and whats the excess? Thanks.

most insurance companies will pay vet directly but not all vets accept direct payments from all insurance companies

smaller vets will want you to pay and claim yourself from yoru insurance

most chains will accept you paying your excess and them claiming the rest directly from your insurance but only if your insurer is a reputable one (every vet I know who accepts direct claims will do so with PetPlan and Argos and some others, none would accept AnimalFriends for example)

so really you need to ask your vets first if they accept direct claims at all and then which insurance companies they accept direct claims from

my excess with pet plan is £85.00 per condition per year
